WELCOME TO SPECIAL EDUCATION
AT

WHITE MOUNTAINS REGIONAL SCHOOL DISTRICT

Special Education is a road that assists students with disabilities access the curriculum.  Each student's Individual Education Plan (IEP) provides the road for access to the curriculum.  For some students, it is more intensive instruction in the academics--such as reading, writing or math.  For others it may mean social skill training so they learn how to develop social skills to relate with peers or adults, others may need more instruction in language skills or to develop better coordination in their motor skills.  All of the students need intensive instruction in an area so they can learn to develop the skills needed to become responsible citizens as an adult.

In these pages you will find links to the Federal Law for IDEA 2004 as well as the latest NH Rules for the Education of Children with Disabilities.  A copy of WMRSD's Procedural Safeguards are also available.  If you have questions regarding this site or other pieces that you would like to see added, please contact Brent Holt, Director of Special Education.
